Manaslu Circuit Trekking

18 Days

The Manaslu Circuit is getting popular but still less crowded than the Annapurna Circuit. This hidden treasure offers breathtaking views of Mt Manaslu (8163m) the 8th highest mountain in the world and Ganesh Himal. Along the trail you will pass through a mix of Hindu and Tibetan Buddhist villages, a rich cultural experience. The trail follows the Budhi Gandaki River from its lower elevation around 700m to its source near Larkya Pass (5125m). The changing landscapes – green valleys, forests and high altitude terrain makes the trek very unique.

Crossing Larkya Pass is the highlight of the trek but a challenging one especially if there is snow. The effort is rewarded with stunning views of the Himalayas and glaciers. The pass is the gateway to the Budhi Gandaki valley and the Marsyangdi valley. On the descent you will pass through alpine meadows of Bhimtang before joining the Annapurna Circuit near Besisahar.

The trek starts from Soti Khola and ends at Chyamche but many trekkers extend their trek to Besisahar. The route is flexible and you can shorten or extend your itinerary as per your pace and starting point. Guesthouses and teahouses line the trail with simple but comfortable accommodations but camping is also an option if you want a more rustic experience.

If you want to add more to your adventure the Manaslu Circuit can be combined with a side trip to Tsum Valley, a hidden region where Tibetan culture is still alive. Whether you are drawn by the natural beauty, cultural experience or the adventure the Manaslu Circuit is a trek that’s as good as it gets.
